Rhinoplasty is the art of modifying the appearance and proportions of the nose.

An unsightly nose can be the cause of complexes and a lack of self-confidence.

Rhinoplasty can be performed by injections of hyaluronic acid in the office in case of a slight bump on the nose or a drooping nose. This is called medical rhinoplasty.

In the case of more serious aesthetic problems, the choice will turn to surgical rhinoplasty.

A crucial structure in the harmony of a face, the modification of the dimensions of the nose will sublimate the facial aesthetics of a person allowing him to erase these complexes and regain confidence.

It is for this reason that surgical rhinoplasty requires perfect expertise from the surgeon to carry out a tailor-made work, adapting to the facial morphology of each person. Constantly attuned to the latest surgical techniques, the surgeons at the CLEAGE center develop their best know-how, acquired through several years of experience, to offer you the best possible surgical and artistic approach.

The objective of rhinoplasty surgery is to correct certain aesthetic aspects to regain a harmonious and natural nose:

  • a bump that is too pronounced;
  • nose wings that are too large;
  • a too large and drooping tip of the nose;
  • a base of the nose that is too large;
  • a nose bridge too protruding.

The aesthetic disorder may be associated with a respiratory disorder, especially if the nasal septum is deviated, and can be corrected at the same time.

Nose surgery can be carried out from a very young age, especially in the case of associated respiratory problems.

A consultation will be able to guide you towards the best possible solution.

Modalities

An initial consultation with a surgeon at the CLEAGE center will allow you to analyze your needs and desires for rhinoplasty and explain the course of the procedure, the expected results as well as the surgical suites and possible complications.

The exchange between the patient and the surgeon as well as a careful listening on the part of the surgeon are essential during this consultation to set the treatment objectives and specify the contributions of the nasal surgery.

Nasal surgery is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia and lasts from 2h to 3h.
A pre-interventional anesthetic consultation is performed with a complete blood examination to look for possible contraindications to general anesthesia.

A date of intervention as well as follow-up consultations are subsequently planned to adapt as much as possible to your schedule. Post-operative consultations are usually scheduled at Day 4, Day 10, and 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.

The surgeon will give you a detailed written protocol summarizing the procedure, the precautions before / after surgery, the care to be performed as well as the scheduling of follow-up consultations.

Precautions before/after the procedure

Before  :
Discontinue anti-inflammatory drugs and anticoagulants (relay to be performed with the cardiologist or family doctor) 15 days before the procedure.
Quit active smoking 2 months before the procedure.

After  :
It is advisable to avoid any intense sports activity for 2 weeks after the procedure so as not to create high blood pressure (reactive to effort) that could increase swelling or cause the birth of new blue.
Total absence of exposure in hot environments (sauna / steam room) which will increase swelling.

Results and post-operative

The results of a surgical rhinoplasty are not immediately visible due to the presence of bruising for an average of 2 weeks.

A nasal swelling will appear after the operation and will quickly fade in 2 to 3 weeks. However, there will be a slight edema, especially at the tip of the nose, which will mask the results.

A wait of 3 to 6 months is necessary to visualize the final result.

A nasal plaster is put in place at the end of the operation and will be removed on average 10 days later, as well as nasal wicks removed around the 4th day, to avoid post-surgical discharge.

If stitches are present on the outside of the nose, the doctor will remove them 10 days after the operation.

Afterwards, the nose can be further embellished, in particular by working on the anatomical areas that are crucial to the construction of the face's profile. This is called profiloplasty.

A beautification by injection of hyaluronic acid of the lips, the chin or the forehead will allow to sublimate the profile are often associated in the aftermath of a nasal surgery.
